Job Description

We are looking for talented software engineers.  Our office practices Agile Development Methodologies - building software in a pragmatic and sustainable manner. We start the day by doing a standup meeting at 9:30am and try to end it with cool beverages around 6:30pm. The in-between is filled with pair-programming, test-driven development, a bit of foosball, and solving interesting problems. Our weekly Tech Talk lunch is where we discuss new ideas and refine old ones. It is also a good opportunity to gain experience as a speaker in preparation for conferences. We provide the lunch; you provide the conversation.
Responsibility

    Drive feature development for our soon to be launched Android smartphone and tablets.
    Leading a small team of engineers on specific projects and taking ownership of end-to-end product quality.
    Lead prototypes of new ideas and explore new technologies on the forefront of mobile technology and commerce.
    Contribute to the growth of mobile development across WOI by working closely with other Product Development teams to improve consistency and and timing of releases across Mobile and Web.
    Implement A/B testing framework to help guide product features.
    Diving into other languages in our stack to help with integration with our mobile products - which will mean exposure to PHP, Ruby, Python or Javascript.
    Support other groups within our engineering team—e.g. Data Analysis, Search, Developer Tools, Security and Operations where necessary.

Requirement

    Working in mobile app development in a professional context for at least two years and has a deep familiarity of Java and the Android SDK.
    Keeps current with best practices and design patterns for Android  - memory management, UI layout and rendering, or network performance. A focus on Test Driven Development is a huge plus.
    Having shipped successful apps to the Google Play Store is a huge plus.
    Understands not just the UI and client development, but also the backend data models and the API stack. Experience in doing software engineering on backend stacks using different languages such as PHP, Python or Ruby is a huge plus.
    An eye for detail UI design and experience on polishing UI bugs.
    Experience troubleshooting crash report of deployed applications
